Health care transmission of HIV in South African children

Incorporating HIV prevention into the medical care of persons living with HIV
Reducing transmission of HIV in the United States requires new strategies, including emphasis on prevention of transmission by HIV-infected persons. Recommendations of the U.S. CDC, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the National Institutes of Health, and the HIV Medicine Association of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. HIV-1 Nef intersects the macrophage CD40L signalling pathway to promote resting-cell infection
Antiretroviral treatment can beat HIV back to undetectable levels, but the virus can survive in reservoirs and then reactivate itself later. New studies show how through Nef and a complex interaction of cell signaling, HIV sets up viral reservoirs in resting T cells. Nature 424, 213, 10 July 2003.
