Hot News:
A new vaccine candidate generated neutralizing antibodies that are not type-specific. Structures consisting of covalently crosslinked complexes of soluble human CD4 (shCD4) and HIV-1IIIB envelope glycoproteins (gp120 or gp140) were able to generate antibodies in rhesus macaques that neutralized a wide range of primary HIV-1 isolates regardless of the coreceptor usage or genetic subtype.

Unrecognized HIV infection, risk behaviors, and perceptions of risk among young black men who have sex with men (BMSM). Data from the CDC's Young Men's Survey (YMS) were used to evaluate the prevalence of unrecognized HIV infection, barriers to testing, and reasons for nonuse of condoms among BMSM aged 15-22 years. The findings in this report are consistent with previous studies suggesting that in several U.S. cities, the majority of young HIV-infected MSM, particularly BMSM, were unaware of their infection.

HIV prevention research: Cumulative knowledge or accumulating studies? The U.S. CDC HIV/AIDS Prevention Research Synthesis (PRS) project found over 4000 studies related to the prevention of HIV infection. The Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes has published a supplement comprising articles from the PRS project. The project claims to be the largest research review conducted to date of the effectiveness of interventions to reduce HIV risk behavior.
